Arcade Boards

There is something to be said about watching someone go through box after box of arcade PCB's reading off names like Q-Bert, Zaxxon, Donkey Kong, POW and Choplifter to name only a few. I was over at a friends house and his business is to put arcade machines into bars and such and also service those machines and the machines of other people. He's been in the arcade business for about 20 years or so and his place is INSANE. It is full of amazing machines, pieces of machines and PCB's.

Walking through the basement was a minefield of my past... careful, don't step on the Pole Position control panel.... so cool. (the pic is not his place by the way, just a cool pic)

It was a very good way to spend a Sunday morning going through all those boards, after testing a bunch I bought 6 and did so very happily. Really loving the arcade hobby.

Also it turns out he worked at the Imperial Arcade for like 10 years, that place was an Ottawa institution, lots of quarters went through their back in the day.

It's awesome that the "Imperial Arcade" sign is still up where the place used to run.

I think you were right about that idea you had...having an arcade "lounge" as a business venture. Have couches, set-up arcade machines all over the place with flat-panel TVs for sports complete with a bar. The waitresses, aside from serving drinks, could have those coin-holder thingees strapped on (easy!) to provide change for the machines...million dollar idea for sure!!!

that would be sweet, who knows maybe someday.... the biggest problem might be getting the games for it, I know I wouldn't put mine in!
