Wii

Details were announced today, release date of Nov. 19 for North America and $250 US with a pack in game.... very curious to see how it sells compared to the other systems.

I love the fact that they packaged a game with it, it used to be standard but as time went on we got an SBP screwjob on that deal. With the money people drop on these sytems, it's nice to see Nintendo is in a way saying "Thank you" for the purchase. Companies might say that it drives up costs when they do that, but the $250 pricetage charged for the Wii shows it can be done.

yep, I totally agree, the pack in will be the sports comilation they made, it'll be a bunch of "smaller" games that showcase the new controller and motion sensing stuff... very smart of them!

Also interesting to note is that they will be making a profit on systems at launch... this is pretty rare, I think MS and Sony loose over a hundred per console... YIKES! They make it up with game sales of course and when the system gets older it gets cheaper to make etc.

licensing... every publisher that puts out a game pays Sony, MS, and Nintendo for the privelidge to do so... (per unit of the game printed). Developers buy the dev kits and support to use them... it's the razor/razor blade approach, get the razors in the client's hands and they'll buy the razor blades.... unless they can get the razor modded in which case the companies just loose the money and never recoup it.
